Today I’m going to be sharing my skincare routine with you. This is in no way the end all be all for skincare, this is just what I do currently and could change in the future. There are lots of products out there (so many it’s overwhelming at times) and you have to get to know your skin and what works best for you. I have mostly normal skin. I sometimes get oily in my T zone and occasionally get small hormonal breakouts. I am not acne prone by any means and my skin is not sensitive either. I consider myself very lucky to have fairly balanced and resilient skin. If you’re skin is different from mine (and it most likely is), then do your research on these products before purchasing any that interest you. This is just what works for me, it may not work for you.
I like to keep my morning routine super duper simple. I don’t cleanse or tones or use serums in the morning. I start by rinse my face with cold water and then I pull out my jade roller.
I like to use the roller cold, I find it feels really soothing that way. I don’t know if this actually helps to drain excess fluid in the face but it does help relieve muscle tension. My forehead and jaw can get quite tense and the roller helps to loosen and relax the muscles. It also just feels good to have a mini massage. You don’t have to use a roll, there are other tools available or you could use your hands. Hands are great tools, and they’re free.
After my massage, I rinse in cold again before moisturizing. I use the Burt’s Bees day lotion with SPF 15. I just get it at my drugstore but I also recently found out that Amazon has a boat load of Burt’s Bees products so you can always look there too.
Last step of the morning is lip balm. Another Burt’s Bees product. Most of my products are Burt’s Bees so you’re going to see a lot of them in this post. I like what I like. I like this lip balm and it does it’s job. My lips feel soft and hydrated all day long. I also keep these guys everywhere in case I need a touch up. I use all different flavours too, I like to mix it up.
The first thing I do at night is remove my makeup/exfoliate. These are together because I use cleansing clothes for this step. I have two different clothes: the “Wonder Cloth” and “The Makeup Eraser.” I have had these for some years now. They were originally purchased at Bed, Bath and Beyond and I have no idea if they are still available. They both get the job done but I do find the the “Wonder Cloth” glides along the skin easier and is better at removing makeup/dead skin.
Once the makeup is off, I cleanse. I’m currently using the Burt’s Bees Daily Facial Cleanser with Daisy Extract. I have no idea if it’s actually brightening since I’m already pale as a ghost. It does, however, leave my skin feeling clean, smooth and fresh especially after exfoliating beforehand. Just like in the morning, I use cold water to wash my face.
I am using two different serums at the moment. “The Buffet” and a Hyaluronic Acid serum, both from The Ordinary. These two skincare treats were in my stocking at Christmas. I use these on alternating nights so I can keep what goes on my skin at a given time to a minimum. I have found that both serums have a similar affect on my skin, they just leave it feeling smooth, fresh and hydrated.
Next is eye cream. At 22, I don’t notice anything happening from the use of eye cream but I guess it’s more of a preventative measure. I am currently using the Burt’s Bees Eye Cream with Royal Jelly. This is definitely creamy and moisturizing. However, my under eye skin is super thin and translucent, even more than the rest of my face and body, so next time I think I’ll look for something lighter weight.
Lip balm is the same as before.
The last step is moisturizer/night cream. I like to give time for my serum to soak in so I try to wait on this for a least a few minutes. I use the Burt’s Bees Hydrating Gel Cream with Royal Jelly. Gel creams aren’t for everyone, my mom has dryer skin than I do and she didn’t find this to be hydrating or moisturizing enough for her. I find it to be just right for my skin. It’s lightweight and absorbs fairly quickly so my skin doesn’t feel weighed down at all.
That is everything in my skincare routine. I know, it’s a lot of Burt’s Bees. I like the brand because the products are mostly natural and work well for me. If you want to try any of these or other Burt’s Bees products, they are available at most drugstores in Canada (I can’t speak for other countries) and on Amazon. Selection will vary across store locations. As I said before, this is just what works for me, it may not work for you but you’re welcome to try any of these products at your own discretion.
Thank you for visiting my blog and I hope you have a lovely day!
XOXO ~ Amber Rose
