Book Review: Liar Liar by James Patterson and Candice Fox

Liar LIar by James Patterson and Candice Fox

This book is a personal purchase. All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.

Liar Liar by James Patterson and Candice Fox is a detective/serial killer story on steroids. It takes place in Australia and is told mostly from the point of view of Detective Harriet Blue with some sections of third person point of view following other characters. Harriet Blue is after serial killer Regan Banks who has not only brutally assaulted and murdered several women, he is the reason for the death of Sam Blue, Harriet’s brother, and Harriet wants blood. Regan is also after Harriet, he wants to strip her down to her “true self” and is luring her closer to him. While hunting Regan, Harriet has gone rogue cop and is on the run from the police force that she was working for. Regan is out killing, Harriet is breaking laws to find him, and there is drama within the police force. Should be an easy case to close, right?

As previously stated, this was a detective/serial killer story on steroids. There are so many layers to the story and it all comes together so well. It digs deep into the personalities of Regan and Harriet and shows multiple points of struggle within the police organization. Everything is centered around and tied into the search for Regan Banks. It’s a controversial investigation and there are few agreeances on how it should be run.

I was fully enthralled while reading Liar Liar. There is so much suspense and severals unexpected turns to keep you interested. Everything ties together beautifully, leaving no loose ends. There are several smaller storylines that all run alongside the main story and showcase all the different layers of destruction caused by Regan Banks. James Patterson gives a complete story and then ends on a cliffhanger to leave you wanting more. I for one want more and would like to find out what happens next.

I would recommend Liar Liar by James Patterson and Candice Fox to anyone who likes murder mysteries, detective novels, serial killer stories, or anything similar. It is a fusion of these different styles, blended expertly and hopped up on who knows what.

Thank you for visiting my blog and I hope you have a lovely day,
