Your Rhythm by Katia Rose
Your Rhythm by Katia Rose is the first in series of books about Sherbrooke Station, the newest hit band on the Montreal music scene. Your Rhythm is told from the alternating point of views of Kay Fischer, a music journalist, and Matt Pearson, drummer for Sherbrooke Station. The two meet when Kay is sent to interview the band’s lead singer but Matt shows up instead. Sparks fly and trouble brews. Sherbrooke Station is falling apart and fighting with their label Atlas Records. Kay is trying to write about the band while avoiding another run-in with Atlas. She is also struggling to maintain her professionalism. A recipe for disaster that could have everything crashing down around Matt and Kay.
This book was dramatic, romantic, spicy, and enticing. It kept me interested and I didn’t want to stop reading. Katia Rose included a great balance of romance, drama, spice, and even a little education without overdoing on any of the elements. I say education because it shows both Matt and Kay at work providing slight insight into the Montreal music and music journalism industries. She also used some exceptionally descriptive writing involving all five senses. You could almost experience it yourself if someone read the descriptions aloud to you.
Explicit Content Warning: There is a lot of vulgar language used which makes sense given where the story takes place. There are also a couple of sex scenes. If you don’t like sex in novels don’t read this, the sex scenes are very descriptive.
With the warning out of the way, I would recommend this if you daydream/fantasize about rock stars or other celebrities. You might also enjoy Your Rhythm if you like reading about celebrity drama and gossip. Sherbrooke Station aren’t full celebrities yet but they’re on their way..
Thank you for visiting my blog and I hope you have a lovely day.
